Forest Crested Lizard

Calotes emma

Description:

male in breeding colors

Habitat:

tropical forest, 800m

Notes:

I spotted this near the Visitors centre in Nam Nao National Park. It was amongst some vegetation when I began photographing it. Then it came even closer to me and eventually ran right past me to get to the vegetation on the other side of the VC. Very cool that it allowed me to get really close.

Thanks Scott. I think you're right, that's the confirmation I needed.

Cool. 3 separate spines on the head are diagnostic I believe for C. emma. I think I can make out one in the correct position on the far side of the head above the eye and maybe another by the tympanum...
