About 3 inches long, was crawling on path and kept rolling over, just like it was too fat to crawl...lime green in colour translucent

Found near cedar and maple tree

Thank you for the correction. I now see that Luna caterpillars have pink spots while Polyphemus have orange and yellow.

I am fairly sure you have a Luna Moth caterpillar here. Between the color of the head capsule and the yellow striping, it looks more consistent with Actias luna to me. You can compare here:
