A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Found this bird very first time in my backyard. It Came very close. Bigger than house sparrow. Smaller than red vented bulbul. It had bluish grey on back with soft orange pastel color on breast. Head and shoulder area and upper part of tail had darker blue tint . Underneath tail was uniform grey similar to lower back of body. I didnt observe it wagging tail or fanning tail.
Backyard...but saw for the first time in 2 years of observation. Hyderabad is in central india. Saw in October 2020.
Thought it's Ticknel's fly catcher but do not seem so! HELP!

Thanks bayucca! The upper body color is a different shade of blue/ grey. Couldn't find any shots of Cyornis tickelliae with color as in the second image. May be I got this first? :)
I would also go with Cyornis tickelliae.

Happy to be at ProjectNoah Antonio, Michael! Thanks Mark for your opinion. The blue color of the upper part is quite different from Ticknel's. The specimen had deep navy blue and grey. But the body shape, eyes, beak match perfectly. I thought it could be Ashy Prinia but ruled out due to eye color, upper body color and tail. Unless other suggestions come we have to by Mark's opinion!
I think Tickell's looks ok. A pale male?
