Sivakumar sir... I have just begun my biology journey well after the age of 60. Is there any hope for me or should I give up now? :-)
Next time I visit my family in Kodaikanal I will be exploring the wonderful biology of the Palni hills and forests. I can't wait.

Thanks Mr Mark Ridgway
I am always cautious about this.I do not like any slips in scientific names.
Hence I have vented out my feelings by this apology.
Thanks again
Regards
Sivakumar

No apologies necessary Sivakumar! That is what this community is for - we all help each other. Those pesky phones. :)

Dear Krishnamurthy
A Beautiful nice shot it is!
I have typed as Xylocopa sp Subfamily Xylocopinae Family Apidae. But unfortunately in my android phone it has misspelt all and also above 60 I should not depend on my mind alone when giving name, family etc without proper verification.. I request a confirmation before posting can solve such issues in a scientific forum.
@Mr Mark Ridgeway I sincerely apologise and indeed regret a lot for the error and I shall be careful in future.Regards

Nice find Krishna. Most of the ones I remember from TN and Kerala were black/blue. Sivakumar VK has mis-spelled his names. The scientific name here should contain "Xylocopa sp." (not Xylocarpa) Please also remove the family name (which should have been Xylocopidae not Xylocarpidae). Well done sir !!
