Allograpta micrura

Description:

Allograpta micrura can be found in western North America from Canada to Mexico. The thin body and yellow spots at the bottom of the abdomen are good field identification clues.

It's nearly identical! I was relying on BugGuide and they don't show it in your area but I didn't check another source like I should have. I think that's it!

Cindy, I checked it and you are right by looking at the bands...They are found in Mexico so it could have migrated here somehow..you think?

This looks sooo much like Allograpta micrura but they're not found in Texas. The closest I could find that's known in your area is the genus Sphaerophoria. That one doesn't seem to be as well documented and is quite varied.
