Jungle Mynah

Acridotheres fuscus

Description:

Of Blackbird size, these birds are predominantly grey, much darker on head and backs, with large white wing patches and white tail tips, all obvious in flight. The bill and legs are bright yellow, and there is no bare skin around eye; but there is recognisable forehead tuft. Sexes alike.

Habitat:

Seen in urban area in densely populated Cox's Bazar town, but around a small pond and close to domestic animals. Jungle mynah is omnivorous, picking berries and insects - here observed in company of drongos, picking ectoparasites from cows.

This is an excellent spotting, Zlatan. Have the mynahs ousted the cattle egrets? There's usually enough of them to get their way. I would imagine that ectoparasites from cows would be a plentiful food source.

A new location for you Zlatan, and a spotting perfect for our new 2019 mission! Looking forward to see more.
