Erudite leaf beetle

Paropsisterna erudita

A small black beetle with an erudite red chevron adorning its back like a graduating university scholar. This elusive beetle was one that I was searching for and hoped to find this season.

Under the bark of a manna/candlebark type eucalyptus on the roadside.

These dark beetles are not found on leaves during the daytime but only under bark. It seems possible that they are nocturnal.

Small, round, and wandering can make for such a complicated photo shoot! Wonderfully done!
