Oriental garden lizard

Calotes versicolor

Description:

The Oriental Garden Lizard, Eastern Garden Lizard or Changeable Lizard (Calotes versicolor) is an agamid lizard found widely distributed in Asia. It has also been introduced in many other parts of the world. Clicked near Guruvayur, Kerala, India It is an insectivore and the male gets a bright red throat in the breeding season leading to a common incorrect name of "Bloodsucker". (Wikipedia)

Notes:

Reserved for tourism and almost untouched by car traffic, Pulau Ubin is one of the last spots in Singapore where one can experience nature at its best as huge parts of it are protected for military training or reserved for locals only. In between jungle, mangroves and old muslim cementries, random encounters with all kinds of animals are quite common if you take your time. The island is best explored by bike.
