Mormoscopa Moth

Mormoscopa sordescens

Description:

A deep brown, almost black moth with a wing span of about 35mm. It was triangular in shape with beautiful pale wavy pattern in the submarginal area. There appeared to be another pale wavy line half way up the fore wing with disc shaped pale patches anterior to the line on either wing. The basal area also showed pale patches but the pattern was difficult to discern. Eyes were prominent as was a "snout" like projection between the eyes. antennae were plain and a third of the length of the body.

Habitat:

Spotted it on the ceiling inside the house last night. He was nowhere to be seen this morning.

Notes:

A Noctuid moth. Thanks to Peter Marriott for the ID.

Not even there and I don't think it is a Pyralidae. Wing shape is not bad, but head and "snout" looks different in my eyes.

Look to be one of Pyralid moths
