Scale insect gall

Tanyscelis maskelli

Description:

A number of galls seen on the leaf petiole. They had hollowed out collarswith the galls themselves being conical shapes about 4 mms tall. The narrow tips seemed bent.
At least three other leaves showed similar galls but they were dry and partially destroyed.

Habitat:

Spotted on a heavily damaged eucalyptus sapling in a national park.

Notes:

Galls such as these are produced by eriococcid scale insects. My thanks to anneliseras for the ID.
