Quercus montana
A small chestnut oak here at the college gardens, the plaque for this one is outdated as it lists its binomial name as Q. prinus, which is an old synonym. Q. prinus used to be used for both the chestnut oak here and the swamp chestnut oak, Q. micahuxii. Some botanists even consider the two the same species, but due to the confusion, Q. montana is used today.
Northeastern US.
