Rhizomarasmius pyrrhocephalus
Orange cap that was nearly flat and about 2 cm across. The cap was wrinkled and had some slight lines around the margin. The stem was reddish brown, very tough, hairy, and rooted. Gills were cream colored and were attached to the stem.
Growing on the ground, in the leaf litter, in a deciduous forest.
This is the first spotting of this species on Project Noah.
These mushrooms shrivel up when the weather is dry. When it rains again, they will revive and assume their usual proportions. This reviving ability is called "marcescence".

@Mark, I just read it, haha. Now I want to try to revive some next time I find them. I'd never heard of "marcescence".
@Brian, thanks!
Great find and pics Christine!
I love Michael Kuo's description of these.
