It is a real treat isn't it? I saw an otter pup the other day.A Large crowd gathered to see it which resulted mom not showing up for a long time. Pup started getting anxious, Fortunately the crowd dispersed after i requested them too. Hope mom showed up soon. That is when i was trying to photograph it, that, i realized how difficult it was to do justice to its cuteness.
That is why I appreciate your pic even more!

Thanks Karen and Emma! I watched him for a good 20 minutes! The crawfish buffet had him pretty distracted and I don't think they see very well out of the water because it wasn't until I inadvertently made some noise that brought my presence to his attention. Even then he just moved to a grassier part of the pond and hid out until I left. I had gone to see if the Great Egrets were nesting yet and was not expecting to see an otter but he turned out to be the highlight of my day!

Thanks East, Ava, Patty, and Garon! I have seen them from afar on rare occasions but never this close. I was quite surprised how close I was able to get. One point he was less than ten feet away but he only surfaced to gobble down a crayfish. He had eaten almost a dozen before he noticed me!
