Common bottlenose dolphin

Tursiops truncatus

Description:

We found a group of seven dolphins towards the end of our research trip for the day as we were heading east towards the Oceanic Society Field Station on Blackbird Caye, Turneffe Atoll. A lucky shot, the juvenile dolphin above was leaping with another following. The pair were actively socializing for some time; leaping, breaching, and chasing each other.

Habitat:

Seagrass beds of Turtle and Manatee grass.
