Neobarya agaricola

Neobarya agaricola

Description:

Very small mushrooms (at first I thought it might be fruiting slime mold) approz. 8mm tall; crusty white all over plus yellow crust on top of that. Pileus rounded cone shape; stipe very thin meandering, furry white; gills uncrowded, pale yellow. No frill, veil or bulb?

Habitat:

These were growing in a VERY dark part of a very tall, moist eucalyptus forest, underneath a large wet log.

Notes:

This is a case of fungi growing on fungi. Thanks to Clive the white-yellow fungus is probably Neobarya agaricola and therefore the mushrooms are probably an agaric!? Read about it here... http://www.hiddenforest.co.nz/fungi/fami...

An expert has suggested this is a case of one fungus growing on another.
