Jumping Spider

Lepidemathis cavinti

Description:

This jumping spider is a female Lepidemathis cavinti Barrion-Dupo & Barrion, 2020. The two main colours displayed by this spider dark brown and light brown, sound rather drab, but the intricacy of the markings are just amazingly beautiful, and as for those soulful front eyes.....I will just let the pictures speak for themselves.

Habitat:

I can only assume that this spider came from my front garden because I only noticed it when it was already in my terrace (which overlooks the garden). I'm sorry this is not much of a habitat description, but my garden is fairly ordinary - grass, some trees and bushes, some cultivated flowers and rather too many weeds.

Notes:

I was sitting out in my terrace early in the morning, enjoying a coffee, while preparing some pictures and paper work to add some recent specimens to my amateur biodiversity catalogue when suddenly this Jumping Spider appeared on the table. I was lucky to have my camera to hand and rather hurriedly snapped off some shots. The quality turned out to be poor. So I had to sharpen and brighten them rather more than I would like, just to try and salvage some.
