Mealybug is a soft scale. White or grayish segmented and very small.
This is on a Crepe Myrtle, Lagerstroemia indica. It is not the new Eriococcus scale. In the genus Eriococcus, the scale is a type of felt or bark scale. It’s closest cousin is the Azalea bark scale, but that species has never been associated with crape myrtle before.
