Thanks Tamar, I feel bad about that - I've very little time at the moment to go spotting & even less to do the research required to ID all the weird & wonderful critters I find! My new moth guide has just arrived today, so that should help a bit.

This looks like a male Marchfly. I am not sure of the species though.
