This is a brown anole. The scientific name of the brown anole is Anolis sagrei as per the species suggestion. Please insert this into the space reserved for scientific name (while in edit mode) so that your spotting is marked as identified in the Project Noah spotting database. (There is no "California" anole perhaps "Carolina" anole was intended). Thank you.

Looking at the markings on the tail - this appears to be a brown anole. Brown anoles have diamond, or criss cross markings on their back and down their tails. these markings can be more prominent on some, and much paler on others.

I can't find any info on the California Anole, could it be a Green Anole?
