Lombardy Poplar

Populus nigra 'Italica'

Notes:

It's a very 'yellow' journey along the New England Highway in NSW at the moment! This tree was turning for autumn, but was only about halfway along so from a distance it looked like it had yellow and green stripes. These trees seem out of place in the landscape there, which tends to have more muted colours - thanks to BrianParsons for the ID, which helped me to confirm that these trees are introduced in Australia.
