Oregano

Origanum vulgare

Description:

Dense spreading perennial, 2 1/2 ft tall. Leaves are oval, opposite, and hairy. Flowers are small, white - pink, and form tight clusters at the ends of branches and stems

Habitat:

Native to the mountains of the eastern mediterranean. Best color and fragrance in full sun. Prefers well drained, slightly alkaline soil.

Notes:

Oregano has a long history of culinary and medicinal use.
