White-breasted Nuthatch

Sitta carolinensis

Description:

A 5-6" bird. It's back is black and gray with white outlines around the tail feathers. The breast, as the name implies, is white. Beak and feet appear to be black or dark gray.

Habitat:

I spotted this bird at my feeder in the morning. I see them often in the forest near my apartment. There is a mix of deciduous and coniferous trees there.
