Lycodon laoensis
Dorsally it is dark brown, with a whitish or yellowish crossband on the occiput, and similar body crossbands which bifurcate on the sides. Ventrally it is whitish. Adults are about .5 m (20 inches) in total length, which includes the tail of about 10 cm (4 inches).
seen in tropical forest, found in India, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, China (Yunnan), and West Malaysia.
I camped for 3 nights in Sai Yok National Park. I was camping on a small island surrounded by small streams. One night I came back to my tent and I spotted this snake very close to it. It was one of only three snakes that I saw during 4 months in Asia.
@dandoucette It happens sir..famous American biologist Dr. Joe Slowinski died coz of a banded krait bite by miss identifying it as a wolf snake.For your more reference kindly read The Snake Charmer: A Life and Death in Pursuit of Knowledge book sir..
Thanks rahul.randy5 for the ID. A guide at the park identified it as a Banded Krait but I can see it looks more like your suggestion.
Its a laotian wolf snake..B.fasciatus has vertebral hexagonal scales which is absent here..

Cool! I've only seen captives...I had a wild baby B. candidus come into my house once (Java). I grabbed my one-year-old son just in time as he was going for the attractive thing!
