Eastern Prickly Pear (Cactus)

Opuntia humifusa

Description:

About 7-10 inches tall. Most of the body is green but at the beginning of the spikes there are purple circles. When they prick you, multiple splinters come out and they are very small and hard to get out.

Habitat:

Growing near a metal sign post close to a lake. The nearest water was about 10 feet away. It was about 80 degrees Fahrenheit. They were surrounded by grass. They had direct sunlight.

Notes:

Theo Updated by: Sean N There are three stubs, but I did not find anymore near it.
