Great Egret

ardea alba

Description:

Great Egret taking advantage of the low water levels of the dry season in SW Florida. This pond was so shallow, and the aquatic prey so condensed, that it created a feeding frenzy among the water birds. Included about 100+ birds of various species. Just look at the size of that tadpole!!

Habitat:

wetland

Notes:

Observed a feeding frenzy of water birds in the slough today. Very interesting activity...
