Ruby-crowned kinglet

Regulus calendula

Description:

One of the bird species that spends late autumn, winter and early spring in North Carolina. These little birds (not too much bigger than a hummingbird) rarely sit still and are one of my favorites. In addition to gleaning the branches for insects, they also like suet at feeders.

Habitat:

Ebenezer Point, Jordan Lake
