Yellowtop Butterweed

Scenecio glabellus

Description:

Smooth fibrous rooted annual, 12-36 inches tall with mostly unbranched hollow stems. Basal leaves 4-8 inches long, incised or toothed, stem leaves with rounded teeth and lobes. Ray flowers yellow with yellow disk borne on bracts in clusters at the top of stems. Bloom April to June.

Habitat:

Moist woods, fields, and wet pastures from SD, IL and NC south to FL and TX.
