Podomyrma sp.

Description:

Ant species not noticed here before. Slow moving. Tan coloured except for the hind half of the abdomen which is black. Mostly shiny. Some small setae on rear end. Bulging femurs I have never seen on ants before. Small eyes in a broad flat head. Approximately 18mm long.

Habitat:

Suburban back yard.

Notes:

Cute!! Cute name too. Looks a bit like Podomyrma gratiosa but the abdomen on those is all black.
