The male Norther Harrier has gray plumage and the female has brown. This Harrier is a male.
Salt marsh along the shoreline of San Francisco Bay.
This White-tailed Kite, part of a breeding pair,nesting close by, was defending its territory against this Northern Harrier male. The kites are also spending a good deal of time protecting themselves against the harrassing American Crows in the area.

These are great Donna! Those poor kites are going to have a rough nesting season apparently!
