Uroplectes carinatus
About 8 - 10 cm long , with light brown color,
Mpumalanga
This little friend came house with me by crawling in some cloths. We where in the waterberge at the time. Identification would be nice
I agree, I personally feel it is a little cruel too though I've been told it doesn't harm them.
Thanks , I currently got it in a covered glass. Will give it a few min. The fridge thing is a little unnatural for me.
Just to add that in the field I try & photograph everything in its natural habitat whenever I can though frustratingly often my "subject" disappears before I can get the shot! Thankfully there are no shortage of spiders around here so I'm usually able to find a few that stay put for a photo call!
Hi Godfrey! Sorry I missed your chat request earlier. You asked about photographing jumping spiders - I find them a challenge too! When I find one in the house I usually try & capture it in an empty yoghurt pot & then cover the pot for a few minutes. This usually calms the spider down for enough time to get a few snaps! I've read that some photographer will put spiders & bugs in the refrigerator for a few minutes to slow them down but I've never tried this.
