American Redstart

Setophaga ruticilla

Description:

Female American Redstart in the yard. Rather than flying, she hopped a lot through the bushes, from twig to twig, occasionally flashing her yellow tail.

Notes:

The male of this species is predominantly black with orange markings, and looks completely different from the female. Since I only saw the female, and since a lot of places online showed the male, it took a while to figure out.
