Aquila chrysaetos
Large, mostly brown bird with white band on the tail. Lifer for me, and had a pair show up! The last photo shows the eagle with a northern harrier that was harassing it, and you can really see how massive the eagle is!
Flying over a lake in a short grass prairie at Muleshoe NWR.

An incredible bird! Great flight shots btw Ashley! Native American people used the tail feathers of the juvenile Golden Eagle in their war bonnets.

These large birds can carry up to 8 pounds during flight. They can fly up to 80 mph, though the average speed is 28-32 mph, and may reach speeds up to 200 mph in a dive.
