Long-billed curlew

Description:

The largest sandpiper in North America. The Long-billed curlew has a long bill (females have a longer bill than males) that curves downward. The plumage is light cinnamon and dark brown/black.

Habitat:

Spotted foraging at Smilkey Lagoon along the San Diego River.
