Lark-like Bunting

Emberiza impetuani

Description:

Small nondescript brownish sparrow-like (and size) bird, I'm sure I overlooked it often thinking it would be a sparrow or some other "common little brown jobs"... Key features are light cinnamon underparts and plain grey face with a long creamy-coloured eyebrow.

Habitat:

This is near-endemic bird of Southern parts of Africa, and is found in arid and semi-arid zones. Here, observed few time in Kunene region, north west of Namibia; at outskirts of small town in acacia tree open woodland landscape. The region is still very dry (but still magnificent and rich in wildlife) at the moment, following a three-year dry-spell.

Notes:

Difficult to believe, but it seems like first appearance on PN... or the search function bugs?
