Giant robber fly. Reported from Kansas, Texas, Arkansas, North Carolina, Michigan (BugGuide.Net). Both males of Promachus bastardii and P. fitchii have white-colored hairs at the tip of the abdomen.

Habitat:

Just off a concrete path at Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens, Kansas.
