Spotting

Description:

Small tree with light green, bell-like buds.

Habitat:

Seen in North Mount Loretto State Forest, not far from a large pond.

Notes:

I almost took it for Fragrant Sumac, Rhus aromatica, but the leaves don’t match. Another plant that looks similar but might actually be a contender is blue ridge blueberry, V. pallidum.
