Shield fungus

Pluteus sp.

Description:

Mushroom with an off white stem about 6 cm tall, the cap was about 5 cm in diameter. The free, crowded gills were cream coloured, slightly darker at the edges.

Habitat:

Grew on a fallen dead oak tree (Quercus robur) in a broadleaf forest.

Notes:

Lonely at the top, this mushroom grew at a height of maybe 5 meters on the trunk of a fallen oak tree. That's also why I could only get shots of the underside of the cap. Spotted in Wechelerveld in rural area of Deventer, Holland.
