brown chafer - unidentified

Description:

A small chafer about 4 mm long with a dark head and broad dark pronotum. Elytra were slightly lighter and not completely covering the abdomen. Antennae were short ending in leaflets a feature common in chafers.
The whole body of the beetle appeared to be covered with very short tufts of white setae, which were arranged at random on the pronotum and in rows along the length of the elytra. On the uncovered abdominal segments, the tufts were densely packed (pic 3).

Habitat:

Spotted on a young tea-tree plant.

Notes:

There were quite a few of these chafers on and around this plant. they were extremely active flying around and settling for only a few seconds. I have no ID for this little chafer so would greatly appreciate any assistance with this. Thanks.
Family: Scarabaeidae
Subfamily: Melolonthinae
