Summer of 2010 Nest Box monitoring for undergraduate research. There was a total of 76 nest boxes by the time I graduated in 2011. I monitored these boxes summer of 2009, 2010, and some in 2011.
All nest boxes were positioned facing east all over Ripon (public and private land, and on a golf course)
Adult females and all nestlings were banded over the summer of 2010.

The pliers were to put the metal bands on. We made sure they always were working so that no harm came to the nestlings.
Amazing serie. Must have been fun to monitor them.
Great Documentation in images.
What are those pliers for? Pretty heavy duty for little baby birds.
They aren't the prettiest babies!
I monitored nest boxes from the summer of 2009-2011. I was banding all nestlings and adult females. Over the summers, my advisor continued to expand the nest box trail. There are new students now that are involved with monitoring the boxes. I conducted behavioral observations on Eastern Bluebirds and other students use the bluebirds in other aspects of research (looking at what they eat, distribution, aggression, competition etc.). We also discouraged house sparrows and took counts of other species of birds in the nest boxes (tree swallows, black capped chickadees, house wrens).
I was involved in this when I was in college. I am now a masters student studying white-nose syndrome in bats.
Hi Missy & welcome to Project Noah!
Can you provide us with some more information on the nest box monitoring project you are involved in?
