Meleagris gallopavo

Description:

Driving through a wildlife area, found some of these wandering through someone's yard. Can't believe I got a shot this close.

There were several together near the raod at someones house running free - no fences. Cant believe I got such a close picture. I have seen several others 100 - 150 yards away, but i came righ up on these by accident. Perfect close up in focus.

Greg, I just posted a few pictures of "my" wild turkeys for comparison. They're not as crisp as I'd like, but they were taken through a window & the turkeys were anout 100 yds from the house. The one of 2 of them running is what happened when I tried to sneak outside to get a better shot! They should come up if you click on my name.

He looks exactly like the wild turkeys that visit my yard several times a week!

There were several together.

Was it alone? It looks pretty pudgy for a Wild Turkey, and Wild toms tend to keep a flock with them.
