Wiener Nachtpfauenauge

Saturnia pyri

Description:

Habitat:

spottet in city garden, it hid at the stem of a tree during a heavy summer rain. If you look closely, you can see that the wings are hurt. Nevertheless, it was the biggest insect I have ever seen in my garden or in domestic nature, and from what I read, it is quite rare north of the alps in Switzerland.
