Ceryle rudis
This kingfisher is about 17 cm long and is white with a black mask, a white supercilium and black breast bands. The crest is neat and the upperparts are barred in black.Males have a narrow second breast-band while females have a single broken breast band. This kingfisher feeds mainly on fish, although it will take crustaceans and large aquatic insects such as dragonfly larvae.

wonderful capture Atul, we have belted kingfishers in our area, I see them quite often, but have never been able to get a capture of one as grand as your pied kingfisher. Thank you for commenting on my captures, I have but two and I have only been a part of the community for less then one day. I am in awe of you and so many others on this sight.
