Description:

Is this a Helena Gum moth or an Emperor Gum moth? Wingspan when relaxed is about 130mm.

Habitat:

Currently perched on the windowsill outside the marina office at Akuna Bay!

That's awesome, thank you! He's been preening himself outside my office window for a few hours now. I did a bit of researching to try and find out what he was, but I don't know enough about moths to work out if he's a Helena or an Emperor.

Beautiful find! I think O.helena because it lacks the little white triangle just behind the leading edge, between the front eyespot and base of wing, which O. eucalypti has.
