Yes, Ashish here too, I think they live in their nests during winter, to keep warm.
This is a Tree Sparrow, I don't have many House Sparrow here only very few....
Jeanette... Nest building done round the year in house sparrows... what I saw here. May be same trend is seen in other urban sparrows like this one.

@ Ashish, this photo was taken in October, which is not breeding season in Denmark. The breeding season starts in April...
When birds seen collecting nest material is symbolic of breeding season. In breeding season many birds seen with little or lot different form of their plumage.
