Description:

A small jewel bug from the group Scutelleridae . Sometimes called the red jewel bug or the Dodonaea bug. This bug usually has very bright colors.

Habitat:

On a native shrub. Hop bush (Dodonaea sp.).

I agree with your persuasive links that are quite difinitive. I've only seen very bright ones before. This is also called the Dodonaea bug, which is the plant that I found it on. (Dodonaea = Hop bush)
