Chinese Mantid

Hi Mike, nice find! This looks like an adult Chinese Mantid! If you compare your image to the ones in the link I provided above you will see the similarities. This would be a good addition to the Marvelous Mantids of the North East mission: http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/1573...

Just a note, Sphodromantis viridis (Giant African Mantis) is not known to occur in the United States and looks a bit different. Here is a link to the Wikipedia page for that species:
