Major Jenkins' Fan Palm

Description:

large leaves, deeply lobed, more than 4' in diameter

Habitat:

tropical forest and grasslands

Notes:

I spotted this in Thung Salaeng Luang National Park. This huge leaved palm was growing along the road. I had to put myself in the last shot for scale.

Being that you found this palm in Thailand, it is 110% confirmation that this palm is Livistona jenkinsiana. It is not L. rotundifolius or chinensis or Saribus rotundifolia.

Thanks Craig and Viv. It does look a lot like both your suggestions. I'm not sure if L. chinensis is native to Thailand though. Not sure if it had a glaucus quality to the lower leaf.

My guess would be Kerriodoxa elegans. Did it have a glaucus quality to the lower leaf? I read that it's only found in two locations in the wild and both anre in Thailand so that might help.
