Oyster Mushroom

Pleurotus ostreatus

Description:

Caps, approximately 4 cm across; convex, fan-shaped, smooth; pale brown; the margin in-rolled when young. Gills, running down the stem; close; whitish Stipe, absent (normal when the mushroom is growing from the side of a log).

Habitat:

Growing in shelf-like cluster on dead hardwood log on floodplain, on Orange Trail, above Oconee River.
