Description:

Upright, branched annual or biennial. Stems reddish and downy. Leaves narrow; stem leaves stalkless and clasping. Flower heads yellow and 20mm across, surrounded by spine-tipped bracts; appear March-July.

Habitat:

Stony ground. Widespread.
