Thank you Mayra. We have these woodpeckers here, in Uruguay. This one in particular I spotted it at a friend´s farm near Colonia. Greetings

I thought all those different patterns were not present in the cardinal but the people who live where I saw them told me it was a cardinal.... Thank you very much; I will call them too...=)

Thank you very much Malcolm; you are right, it is a woodpecker.

This is nothing like a Red-breasted Cardinal. It is a member of the Woodpecker family. I will let you know the details later.
